THE SMOKING ISSUE

Here in Beaver County there have been almost daily letters to the editor about whether or not smoking should be banned in the county. I thought about sending my own letter but I'm concerned that I would offend too many of my friends.

However, in this forum, no problem. Here it is:

I thought I would throw my voice into the roused rabble of the smoking controversy. For me its quite a simple issue. I try to see things in black and white. I’ve always to tried to cut through what can be complicated messes and bring order out of chaos. And I do that by using terminology that is more to the point and less muddled. For instance, instead of calling abortion “abortion”, I call it what it really is, “Child Murder”. I no longer call smokers “smokers”, I call them “Drug Addicts”. Nicotine is a drug. If a person is addicted to smoking then they are drug addicts. This is not my opinion but it is a hard fact. They are drug addicts, pure and simple. And they should be viewed as drug addicts, whatever pity or scorn that affords them. Just thought I would bring order out of chaos.

I really don't care what they do, as long as I am not required to be a part of it. And that is the problem... if I have to breathe it in, or even just smell it, then I am being forced to be a part of "smoking" against my will. To me, freedom is the most important aspect of my life, and having my "right to breathe" taken away from me, even if just for a short time, is unacceptable. Know what I mean?

I do, and very well spoken. I'm tired of hearing about smoker's rights. They had the right to pollute the air and take t heir drugs for decades. Now its our turn to live without poison being thrust onto us and into us.

I can't believe that you found my blog again. It must have been blind luck.
